Human, Synthetic & HD Fiber Hair: Care Instructions

Please review the following instructions for maintaining your alternative hair. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask!

We recommend washing your alternative hair every 6–8 wears or more and do not recommend color or chemical alterations. We also recommend Jon Renau products only. If you use tape, gently remove it with alcohol unless the tape requires something specific, which it says in the instructions. Make sure to let irons heat up for 10 to 15 minutes before using.

• Before washing, remove tangles with your paddle brush. We like boar bristles.
• Gently wet and lather hair with a small amount of shampoo, ensuring the hair travels in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair. This may cause tangling. We recommend an upside-down vase to set the piece on so the water always goes down the hair.
• Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until the water runs clear.
• Conditioner should be applied, avoiding the base of the wig or hairpiece.
• Using your fingers, work conditioner through mid-lengths and ends for 3–5 minutes.
• Rinse again in cool running water until water runs clear.

• Wrap wig or hairpiece in a microfiber towel and gently pat to remove excess water.
• Gently remove tangles using a paddle brush and head form stand.
• Allow the cap to dry completely before leaving on a canvas wig stand. You can leave on a wire rack to let dry before blow-drying.
• Redampen hair. Starting at the base, work in 2-inch sections to blow dry. Use medium-high heat to style and cool shot to lock in style.

NOTE: Human hair must be dried and styled after washing. Air drying will leave the hair unpolished and can trap water in the hair, causing frizzing.

• Use professional-grade heat styling tools with temperature settings to control heat. Use no higher than 350 degrees to maintain hair integrity. We recommend temperatures around 280.

• Be cautious when standing near a heat source (e.g. open oven, indoor or outdoor heaters, etc.) as excessive heat can damage fiber.
• We recommend using a steamer on your synthetic styles as it allows you to change curl pattern, hair direction, partings, as well as smooth "friction frizz" caused by wear over time.

• Gently lather with Synthetic Shampoo. Make sure hair is travelling in the same direction - do not rub the hair.
• Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until it runs clear.
• Wrap wig or piece in a towel and gently pat dry.
• May use 3–5 pumps of Jon Renau Conditioning spray. Do not rinse.
• Gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb.

• Allow wig or piece to air dry naturally by placing on a wire wig stand. DO NOT BLOW DRY.
• Allow cap to dry completely on a see-through stand.
• We recommend using your fingers or a wig brush/comb for your desired style.
• Do not use heat styling products like curling irons, blow dryers or straighteners on synthetic hair fiber.

• Before washing, gently remove any tangles using a wide-tooth comb.
• Wet hair completely using cool running water.
• Gently lather hair with a small amount of Jon Renau Synthetic shampoo, making sure that the hair is travelling in the same direction. DO NOT RUB.
• Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until water runs clear.
• Wrap wig or piece in a towel and gently pat dry.
• Gently detangle hair using your wide-tooth comb.

• Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand. Do NOT blow dry.
• Air drying completely will give best results. Allow cap to dry completely before applying to canvas block head or wire stand.
• Only use wide-tooth comb on HD fiber to decrease tangling.
• HD fiber can withstand heat up to 350 degrees; however, we recommend 270–280.
• Use professional-grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Make sure to let irons heat up for 10 to 15 minutes before using.

• Heat curling iron or flat iron to 270–280 degrees.
• Gently remove tangles with wide-tooth comb.
• Starting at the nape, take .5"–1.5" sections of hair.
• Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through ends. Roll iron up towards the base staying 1–2" away.
• Hold for 15 seconds, then turn the tip of the iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand.
• Holding curl in one hand, gather it up towards the base and secure with a metal clip.
• Allow to cool completely, remove clip and let it hang naturally.

• Slowly smooth flat iron through ends; keep hair smooth by following behind the iron with your wide-tooth comb.
• Allow hair to fall naturally and cool completely.
