Gel gives you a wet look that is fixed, or set, which needs to be combed out or shampooed to change the style. Styling clay or pastes can be manipulated throughout the day to change or revive the style.
In most cases, store-bought shampoos can be high in sulfates which strip the hair of natural oils, leaving it dry and dull. These products may also leave a waxy residue on the hair which builds up over time, creating a dull finish.

How often should I get a haircut for healthy hair?
Less often than you might expect. Blending is our stylists' signature: every layer is cut into the one above it, so your shape grows out evenly instead of dropping into a hard line, and clients tell us their hair never looks like it needs a haircut. Most guests come in every 8 to 12 weeks to refresh their shape and ends, while short and clipper cuts stay sharpest closer to every 4 to 6 weeks. If you are growing your hair out, we will plan your visits to protect your ends without costing you length.

Yes, we have options for you. If ammonia irritates your scalp, or you would simply rather avoid it, our stylists offer two ammonia-free color options so you can still get rich, dimensional color that is gentler on a sensitive scalp. Let us know when you book or at your consultation, and we will build a formula around what your hair and scalp can comfortably handle.
You will need to book a corrective color with your stylist to lighten the color. You cannot lighten the color by using a lighter boxed color.
Hair Treatments
You should wait a minimum of two weeks after a perm or relaxer to color the hair. Not only can a chemical texture service strip your color, but the two services together may be damaging to the hair.

Hair needs both a healthy skin environment on the scalp and internal balance in your body to grow normally. K Bella has amazing products for a healthy scalp which are gentle, safe, and price-efficient. If products are not fixing the issue, you may ask your doctor about your concerns.

Clinically Certified Trichology
A trichologist is a specialist in the health of the hair and scalp. Kristan is a clinically certified trichologist based in Brighton and serving all of Livingston County, and clients regularly travel from across Michigan and beyond to work with her. Wherever you are coming from, you are welcome here.
No. Trichology is not medical diagnosis. We identify contributing factors to hair loss and scalp issues and guide you toward solutions, referring you to a physician when appropriate.
We use a Tricho-scope and TrichoSciencePro software to capture baseline measurements and compare your hair density at three-month checkups, so progress is based on data, not guesswork.
Every plan is personal. For most clients it centers on the right professional products and topicals, and may also include micro-needling and low-level laser therapy (LLLT) when they are a good fit. LLLT is a painless, non-invasive option, and a great choice for the right candidate.
No. Many gyms and at-home masks use LED red-light panels. Ours is a true low-level laser (LLLT). Laser light is focused and coherent, so it reaches the scalp and follicles more directly than scattered LED light, which is why it is used as a clinical treatment rather than a wellness gadget. For the right candidate, it is one effective part of a larger plan.

Wigs, Toppers, and Hair Replacement
Many plans help cover a cranial prosthesis. Your doctor writes a prescription, you come in to see Kristan, and she orders the cranial prosthesis and submits the claim to your insurance company. Coverage varies, so please confirm with your insurance provider that cranial prosthetics are covered under your plan. We are glad to help.
A cranial prosthesis is a custom medical-grade wig for people experiencing hair loss from a medical cause such as chemotherapy, alopecia, or an autoimmune condition. Kristan is a certified cranial prosthesis specialist.
We primarily fit Jon Renau, along with Raquel Welch and other quality human hair and synthetic lines, in lace-front and other constructions.
Yes. Many clients prefer to choose a wig before treatment so we can match their natural color and style. We welcome you at whatever stage feels right.

What is the difference between lash extensions and a lash lift?
Lash extensions add length and volume, while a lash lift enhances your natural lashes by curling them upward.
Eyelash Extensions and Lifts
With proper care and regular fills, extensions typically last 2–4 weeks.
Avoid oil-based products, rubbing the eyes, and excessive moisture for the first 24-48 hours.
Yes, but only water-based mascara specifically designed for extensions.
These are questions all lash-wearers have at some point. Not only should your tech be washing your lashes before EVERY service, but you should also be washing them at home, daily. When you wear lashes, you are crowding your natural lash line. This means that you need to take extra precautions to make sure that the area stays clean.
The time of day you choose to wash your lashes can matter, too! There are some circumstances in which washing them only in the morning or at night isn’t what’s best. For instance, you are much better off washing them after a workout, after doing yard work, or after a day at the beach. In these situations, it is better to get the debris and bacteria out right away. Ensure you have healthy and happy lashes by keeping them clean!

We recommend scheduling your spray tan 2 days or 48 hours before your event. Spray tans need 24 hrs to develop and it is best if you can have two showers before wearing any special fabrics.
Exfoliate beforehand, avoid lotions or oils, and wear loose clothing for best results.
Yes. We offer both full-body and customized spray tanning options.
The only way our spray tans can turn orange is if the solution is deactivated too soon. We recommend waiting 24 hours before allowing water to touch the tan. This includes: showering, hand washing, crying, sweating, and rain.
Waxing and Hair Removal
All hair removal services require a consultation to be sure it is safe for you based on medications and other factors. Nufree contains all botanical ingredients and adheres to the hair, not the skin, so it is very gentle.
