Kristan Sayers, a distinguished Design Artist and the passionate founder of K Bella Hair Studio & Spa, The Hair Trainer, and MABP (Michigan Association of Beauty Professionals), stands as a luminary in the beauty industry.
With a high-demand schedule, Kristan selectively takes on particular cases, leveraging her extensive experience to address various hair and scalp issues. Kristan is a Clinically Certified Trichologist and master stylist, specializing in hair loss, scalp problems, directional hair cuts, color corrections for fine and thick hair & all forms of hair extensions, wigs, toppers, and hairpieces. She is open to new clients seeking expertise in Trichology, where her meticulous examination helps determine and address concerns such as hair loss, scalp problems, or breakage by scoping the hair and scalp. Kristan offers personalized plans for optimal hair and scalp health and guides those interested in toppers, toupees, or wigs.
Kristan's journey in the beauty industry began with a bachelor's degree in Textile Design and Merchandising Management from Michigan State University, followed by education at the Douglas J. Aveda Institute of Lansing. Her diverse portfolio showcases training with world-renowned academies like Aquage, Surface, Goldwell, Kemon, USTI, Alfaparf, and more. She holds certifications in various specialties, including AMCA, Jon Renau Toppers and wigs, Raquel Welch Wigs, Great Lengths, Cinderella Hair, Hair Talk, Natural Beaded Rows (NBR), Habit Hand Tied extensions, MicroPoint for Hair loss, Brazilian Blowout, and others.
Awards and recognition abound in Kristan's career, from the Beacon Award to accolades in makeup applications, and her work is showcased in the nail category at NAHA. She traveled nationally and internationally as an International Design Artist, educating hairstylists in advanced up-styling, color, and cutting techniques. She currently focuses on advanced studies with the United States Trichology Institute and operates her educational platform, The Hair Trainer.
In 2009, Kristan embarked on her entrepreneurial journey with K Bella Hair Studio & Spa, introducing an Apprentice Program where she takes two apprentices every two years through the state of Michigan. In 2017, she co-initiated MABP, a non-profit organization advocating for the beauty industry, influencing legislation, and promoting continuing education. Kristan's dedication extends to her role as a member of the Michigan State Board of Cosmetology, where she contributes her time to regulatory matters. She is working on her first Bill with her advocacy team through the MAPB to help with new services that have entered the industry to help licensed estheticians.
Kristan's artistic talents span all aspects of hair, specializing in addressing unique challenges such as extremely thin, thick, and curly hair. Her continuous learning and dedication make her a go-to expert for everything from wigs and hair loss to vibrant fantasy colors. Renowned for cutting and color corrections, Kristan's profound knowledge of chemistry and geometry in cosmetology solidifies her standing as a trusted industry expert.
Board of Cosmetology Reappointment
On December 4, 2025, Governor Gretchen Whitmer officially reappointed Kristan Sayers to serve on the Michigan Board of Cosmetology, effective January 1, 2026 — continuing her term through December 31, 2029.
As a board member, Kristan joins a group of nine — five licensed cosmetologists, one cosmetology educator, and three public representatives — charged under Public Act 299 of 1980 with licensing and regulating cosmetology practice in Michigan, including oversight of hair care, skin care, manicuring, esthetics, and related services.
Her role on the Board reflects her commitment not only to running a successful salon and spa, but also to ensuring high standards, safety, and professionalism across Michigan’s beauty industry.
