There are many different things that can be trapped in the hair shaft including the accumulation of medications, chemicals, minerals added to drinking water, and algaecides used in swimming pools or spas. Their presence can change the tone of your hair and without proper treatment, the following can happen:
Discoloration or uneven deposit of hair color. Your hair may turn green and ashy from algaecides, purple or muddy from lead, or pink from iron and medicated shampoo.
Poor grey coverage. This comes from an excess of styling products, oil, makeup, or moisturizers built up around the hairline.
Hair color fading. This happens from rapid oxidation and chemical reactions to minerals internally.
Brassy Blondes. Your hair may not be the blonde you’re looking for because of improper oxidation, discoloration, or uneven lifting throughout the hair shaft. These are all caused by the interference of minerals both internally and externally.
Your stylist is the best person to help you decide which treatment plan to go with. You can discuss whether your hair may need protein, moisture, color remover, or a demineralizer. We do offer a quick fix that can remove most of the build-up in less than 10 minutes, but we highly recommend our favorite, Malibu Original, a formula that will take 30 to 45 minutes. The Malibu treatment will rid everything from the hair so your color will go on more evenly and be more vibrant. It will also allow other procedures, such as a smoothing treatment, to work better than before. After the treatment, we recommend using our purify shampoo once a week to keep your hair fresh and resilient. Also, because you are stripping the bad stuff out of the hair, you need to put the good stuff back into the hair - we advise using a protein-based leave-in moisturizing conditioner.
