Owner Kristan Sayers founded the Michigan Association for Beauty Professionals (MABP) back in 2017.

With her busy schedule, the company laid dormant waiting for its time to shine which came during COVID-19. The Beauty Industry has felt as though they have no voice or anyone speaking to them in Lansing, and with the Licensing also in the dark about our future, the MABP was getting over 100 emails daily, and it was just Kristan. She began to realize that each state was now on there own and left with waiting here in Michigan, but how was she going to move forward? So, the night Georiga was announcing they were going back, Kristan made a video expressing how important it was for the industry to unite. We needed this to make sure everyone is taken care of both mentally and financially and not forgotten, still never being mentioned in most town halls. We needed answers, and there was power in numbers.

Tari Krupinski, the owner of Tacari Salon, was looking for a way to bring the industry together also when she stumbled across the MABP website developed by Kristan's husband, Ben Sayers. After reaching out, the two said that they had the same goals and that they should work together. It became a match made in heaven, and they instantly became friends and business partners. It was amazing how many people were joining from the video, but then Tari put together a press release that they sent to over 15 different news and radio stations. The PR got picked up by more and more news outlets, it was a great feeling to finally be heard! Now the group page has just over 2000 people in 2 weeks, and membership has grown to 1000! Currently, the association is working with Industry Professionals, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, and the Government to get a back to work plan prepared for medical and our governor to review. They are also working on ways to save the industry businesses and help with finding PPE. Check out the website at mibeautypros.com, and share it with anyone you know involved in the industry.
