Kristan graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Textile Design and Merchandising Management. Afterward, she continued her education and attended the Douglas J. Aveda Institute of Lansing. Her portfolio includes numerous classes from the following world-known academies: Aquage, Surface, Neuma, Goldwell, Graham Webb, Wella, Cinderella Hair Extensions, Alfaparf, All Nutrient, Kemon, Martin Parsons, and Aveda. Kristan’s stylist certifications on top of color and cutting include Raquel Welch Wigs, Habit Hand Tied, Natural Beaded Rows (NBR), Great Lengths extensions, Pure Brazilian, Brazilian Blowout, Cinderella Hair extensions, Halocouture Hair extensions, and Chi Enviro Smoothing Treatments. In 2014, Neuma named her MVP for her hard work and dedication to the company.
Kristan has received numerous awards, such as the Beacon Award. The Beacon Award is only awarded to 50 top stylist students in the US. Aveda Institute also awarded her for her amazing makeup applications in 2006. 2015 her photos were finalists in the nail category for NAHA, the largest hair competition in the world. Towards the beginning of her career, Kristan was a National Platform Artist for Alfaparf, specializing in hair color. She is recognized as an International Design Artist with Neuma, educating hairstylists and students on up-styling and state-of-the-art cutting techniques. Currently, she is the US Director for Kemon, an Italian-based color company where she teaches the collection trends for color & cutting and is growing a team of stylists for the US Market. Kristan also has her very own company called The Hair Trainer at www.thehairtrainer.com where she has online education for all hair techniques, salon managing, building, & body posture.
Kristan opened K Bella Hair Studio & Spa in 2009, where she also began an Academy Program, training students to become licensed cosmetologists at K Bella. In 2016 she became the State Representative for licensing regulations to help watch for legislative changes that could hurt the beauty industry. In 2017, Kristan and her husband, Ben Sayers, began the Michigan Association of Beauty Professionals (MABP), which gained a considerable amount of momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a non-profit company to advocate for an association that would unite the beauty industry and helps elevate the standards in Kristan’s home state of Michigan. MABP has started a petition to encourage legislators to require continuing education for the Michigan beauty industry!
Her artistic talents include all aspects of hair, but she specializes in extremely thin, thick, and curly hair with her precise hair-cutting techniques, one-of-a-kind color applications, and experience with all types of hair extensions. Wigs, hair loss, you name it Kristan can help you as she is always learning and studying to keep her salon having all the answers. Fantasy colors - she is a pro, knowing exactly how the direct dye pigments work over oxidative dye molecules, so blue to bright purple, she has you covered. She is best known for her color and cutting corrections with her extensive chemistry and geometry training in the cosmetology field. Kristan uses only green, sustainable hairdressing practices and products working for the two leaders in the green category of hair, Neuma Beauty and Kemon. Her design aesthetic is edgy and innovative, and her ability to weave color through the hair is truly an art form. Whether you prefer a natural look or a work of art that only you can dream up, Kristan will design and create a look that is unique to you.

I have been going to K Bella for several years. Not only is this salon beautiful and spotless clean but the girls are extremely talented! I have never witnessed such gorgeous color techniques as I have at K Bella, it’s amazing what they can do. Every single stylist can make you look your best. So many of us have gone into a salon with a picture cut out of a magazine and asked the stylist if she can make your hair look just like that…. she/he tell you “no problem” and you end up miserable because it’s not even close. What a waste of money! At K Bella they can make your hair, color, eyelashes, skin, eyebrows and nails look just like you thought it should look. Perfect every time. My hair is thick, coarse and a color nobody has been able to come close to, except Kristan. This girl knows how to cut and color hair and has taught her staff all the tricks of the trade. Not to mention her scissors are top of the line, that many salons don’t bother to invest in. Don’t trust just any salon with your hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, facials and tanning. Stephanie has been doing my eyelashes for several years and she’s amazing! Every single time! Nada did my eyebrows that were pencil thin because of a thyroid issue and made them look absolutely perfect! Bree will spray tan you with top of the line equipment that won’t make you orange and dripping wet when you leave! She also does facials that will make your skin glow! Meghan will make your nails beautiful, she’s such a sweetheart and very talented! Book an appointment with any of these girls or any of the other stylists and you’ll never go to another salon. Kristan has been my hair stylist for over ten years. She is a genius especially with color. She always helps me decide on the best cuts for my hair type and always does a great job. A true professional. She has fit me in emergencies and goes out of her way to accommodate all her clients needs. She makes sure I am completely satisfied with my hair.
